Resolving the Mystery of Blank Pages and Spooler Crashes

If a deeply corrupted PDF file gets stuck in the spooler, it will crash the entire service, causing all subsequent jobs to vanish into the void or print blank. To fix this, you must open the Windows Services app (services.msc), locate the "Print Spooler" service, right-click it, and select "Restart." Once the spooler is refreshed, completely uninstall and reinstall the printer driver software to rebuild the corrupted communication pathway.

Resetting the Mac Printing System

While Windows users contend with the Print Spooler, macOS users faced with sudden blank pages or a printer that refuses to accept jobs must often look to the CUPS (Common UNIX Printing System) backend. If your Mac consistently fails to send documents correctly, or if print jobs immediately pause and refuse to resume, the most effective troubleshooting step is a complete reset of the Mac printing system.

To do this, open your Mac's "System Settings" and navigate to "Printers & Scanners." Decoding Printer Error Lights

Many budget-friendly printers lack a helpful touchscreen to explain exactly what is wrong, relying instead on a series of blinking LED lights.
